So, even though Sean was a wee lil lad last football season (thankfully he can't recall that horrid Tennessee season and the can't win a game against a winning team BYU season), he is pretty excited about the upcoming pigskin season. He's been trying out my Tennessee and BYU hats trying to see which team he'll root the loudest for.

Getting things Done.
Last week I finally bucked up and bagged clothes and shoes that I just don't wear anymore. And then donated them. Because who wouldn't want my cast-off clothes I've been hanging on to for 7+ years? We all know that my fashion tastes totally last that long.
Anyway, I bring this up because it's something that I've been dragging my feet about.
Yep, that's right, I'm a foot-dragger. And not just about going through my stuff, it's something that happens on a daily basis about anything that would make me remove myself from the comfort of reading or playing with Sean-boy. Like planning activities, cooking, cleaning, going outside, etc. But I'm convinced that I'm like this for Good Reason.
I tend to go a little overboard.
I know. Shocker, right? I do try to come off as laid-back and easygoing about things. But just ask my husband - if I get it in my head that things need to go a certain way, heaven help the person who gets in my way.
I don't like to clean because I will not be satisfied until every baseboard, grout line and carpet fiber is cleaned according to my specifications. It drives me nuts if I can't get something clean enough and I won't stop thinking about it until I distract myself by finding something else that isn't clean enough. I hate being inhibited by the need to be scrubbing things all day long.
I don't like to plan things because I feel like every second has to be planned out in my mind. And if I actually take the thought process to plan it out, it never goes according to plan. It's just better if I'm invited to things and told what to bring. Or told what to plan.
Lately I haven't been cooking as much because something goes wrong every time. The bread burns. The peas are undercooked. The pork chops put on a lovely seared face and weren't actually cooked at all. I didn't make sure the potatoes were done boiling. Sean is following me around the kitchen and I just can't take his cute little antics any longer.
I got Bs in college because I couldn't make myself spend 5 more hours editing my papers. I'd type it, check for spelling and punctuation errors, have Brian check for grammar, print it, turn it in. If I kept checking it, it never would have gotten turned in on time. My sentences were never good enough for me and some of my more brilliant ideas were never good enough for my professors. Or they just didn't get them, because I'm way smart like that. I also try not to edit my blog posts to avoid not blogging for 3 weeks because the topic isn't good enough.
At our family reunion, I had a little meltdown because we weren't acting like the perfect family I had decided we needed to pretend to be. (Not my proudest I-am-two-and-must-have-my-way moment.)
I drag my feet because I Am A Perfectionist. Maybe even a little obsessive-compulsive. Things must go my Way when I have decided that I have a Way. Feel free to imagine little me stomping my foot as I say that.
But usually I can put on a good face and do whatever everybody else wants to do.
And now, today's plan is to upload pictures from our Tennessee trip. I now expect you to enjoy them.
Me and Sean by a creek in Gatlinburg.
Sean with his daddy not wanting his feet to touch the cold creek water.
Sean driving his first car while we were at Dollywood.
With our niece/his cousin, out for a wagon ride in Knoxville.

On the carousel at Dollywood. He was a big fan.
This horse ride, however, did Not prepare him for the pony ride
on a real horse a couple of weeks later.

Tennessee was a blast. It was everything I could hope for in a Southern state. :) Gracious people, fun times, small towns, and great barbeque. Thanks to Nathan and Lauren, the town of Gatlinburg, and Ashley's grandma for hosting us during our stay! Can't wait to go back!! (Even if it's in the middle of summer again.)

Nothing, really.
As per usual, there are a lot of things on my mind. As per UNusual, I have actually been doing things with my life. In fact, I've started this crazy phenomenon called Busy Day, or more accurate to my recent life, Busy Week. It's interesting. I've been spontaneous, I've planned things, I got $25 worth of groceries for free, and all of my house is clean! (If you don't count the kitchen as part of my house.) Heck, I've even given some of my shoes away.
In the area of Sean's current development, he has started walking. Not full time, but enough to show off when girls his age come over and to appease his doting parents. He has also started screaming, saying "Doh!" for "no" and throwing little tantrums. But he's also really adorable, gives kisses, snuggles when he's tired, and is good at putting his toys in baskets. We have recently found out that the only thing he doesn't like in baskets is folded laundry. And even though he's trying to phase out his morning nap, I'm making him stay in his crib so I can have a few minutes of peace.
My brother came home from a mission for our church. It's been two years during which I only talked to him once. I'm glad he's back. It's not as fun to make fun of somebody without them dishing it back out to you. My other siblings just aren't as challenging. My sister either agrees with me or just rolls her eyes while my other brother just gives me a look that says "whatever." Both reactions are lame.
I have also been really good at sticking my foot in my mouth. Like talking to a new friend about how I'm so cool because spending too much on anything makes me feel all nervous and then finding out their real monetary situation. Or just saying insensitive things in general because I'm too tired to realize that I'm talking to a very sensitive person. Or being really assertive about something that is a bit offensive to the other person.
Yeah. I'm just cool like that.
Well, that's all the words I have left in me right now. Don't worry though, I'm trying to come up with an awesome story to tell. I'm also trying to get pictures up someday.

It's In Writing

Read this and know why I really do have a genuine fear of the dentist. And why my dang epidural kept only working on half of my body.
Finally, proof that I'm not just a wimp!
