Sometimes as a parent you wonder if you're doing a good job. Then you leave your kid alone and realize you're probably doing an OK job compared to what they do on their own.
For example, when Mom and Dad dress Sean, he can be quite handsome and very presentable in public.
Sean, if given a choice, would prefer one of his boots and one of his mom's shoes (on the opposite feet of course) and no pants.
Pajamas? Yes, we know how to work those. Two legs, two arms, zip it up.
That wouldn't fly for Sean. He must've worked pretty hard to get his arm out to welcome the morning with the toga effect.
If he were feeling adventurous at playtime, we might let him play in a laundry basket or something outrageous like that.
Sean's container of choice?
That's right. Our kid LOVES playing in a dog cage. And he kept shutting the door and didn't want to get out.
Does that fact that we encouraged him make us bad parents?

What a cute little boy! It feels like it's been a while since I've seen pictures. My favorite is the one of him pantless with your shoe and his shoe. That'll be gold someday when you have a reason to blackmail him right? Oh and our girl is totally fascinated with the dog crate too. What's the deal with that!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you're not letting him raise himself. :)
ReplyDeleteEncouraging him makes you GOOD parents, doesn't it? We all need encouragement.
you are not bad parents. In fact, don't we say things like we are teaching them "independece" or "self-reliance". I know there are more, I'll have to think of them. Darling pictures though. Imagine being little and being able to fit into a dog crate, is it just me, cause it does sound fascinating.
ReplyDeletehilarious. why do you have a dog cage?
ReplyDeleteoh and that 1st pic looks so much like brian back in the day!
ReplyDeleteHe is too adorable for words! I bet his smile just melts your heart :) I think you are wonderful parents, and looking at that happy little boy looks like you are doing a GREAT job!
ReplyDeleteThat post made me laugh! Esp. the one with his arm out the collar of his pajamas! It is so crazy what these little ones come up with to keep us laughing! Definitely our nightly entertainment! Love it!
